Meet the Artist
As far back as I can remember I’ve had a
fascination with pens, writing, and art in general. I can remember
practicing my cursive as a child; tracing the signatures at the bottom
of my parent’s business mail. Each curve was a part of the sender's
personality and by mimicking each graceful loop, a characteristic
personal style that has been lost in this world devoid of letters by
post, I have created a persona of my own.
Apart from the writing itself, the tools have played a large part in my artistic growth. I can even remember the feather pen I purchased on a field trip to Michigan's historical Greenfield Village, so much more than a trinket to me. I kept it for many years and give it much of the credit for the handwriting that I share with you all.
While my friends were reading books, I would sit at my desk drawing and designing… all in glorious black ink. Ironic because I currently work with children in an elementary school library. It is there that I manage to funnel my creativity into giving our library an atmosphere that our students love to come to. With me they learn that a book is more than words and is instead an adventure to be taken in the mind: full of color and plenty of imagination. I am making up for the time I lost with books as a child and now immerse myself in the literature that I once ignored, along with helping others to do the same.
I
currently share a home with my son Robert, a talented choreographer and
dance teacher as well as our highly opinionated cats, Avi and Zelda. We
truly are blessed with everything from A to Z.
Along with writing and taking care of the many details that brides and party organizers face, I also devote much of myself to finding ways to display my art on the mundane. I pride myself in being able to transform a boring bit of furniture into something whimsical and personal. These have been commissioned for special projects as well as charity.
It has given me great joy to work with individuals from coast to coast and have my handwriting go across the world to the many countries I have dreamed of visiting. To be able to contribute to your special occasion is an honor and I hope to be able to do so for many more years to come.
